 Virginia Mountains Day Hike
Washoe County

March 25, 2007

While the weather was warm and the sky completely blue, the winds whipped all around us as we made our way into the Painted Hills.  Our fearless guide led us through the canyon to a dry water fall for the first stop.dry falls copy_copy

Next we hiked above the water fall through boulder fields towards the ridge and a nice stop out of the wind for lunch.

Then we descended through a long and steep canyon that took us through a moonscaped area just above the painted cliff bands that give the area its name.  Thanks to everyone for coming out and enjoying the area with us.
